Stool Keila – Beauty that deepens over time
The idea for Keila came during a coffee break in the fresh morning sun at Helsinki harbour. market stalls selling berries, mushrooms, peas and Nordic vegetables, among them sweet bread, coffee and stools with small tables on the rough stone pavement between the town hall and the harbour wall.
Sitting on the Keila, Finnish for cone, is surprising. The stretched leather over the moulded seat shell gently welcomes the user. Maple veneer glued into a cone shape creates a thin-walled shell from which the feet are cut out.
The seat is covered with undyed thick leather. Through use and daylight, each Keila stool develops a unique character.
