Bed Calanca
Light, effortless, and casual - aperfectexample of minimalist design.
Sleek materials, fine lines, a slender frame and soft upholstery are the special features of this bed. Martin Bereuter's design is informed by his deep knowledge of materials. The bed frame is as simple as it is statically functional, especially if you take a peek under the mattress: The slat frame is integrated into the bed frame, which allows for slender side panels without compromising support for the mattress. The handcrafted mattress designed for the Calanca bed is held in place by the round moulded corners and nestles against the bed in a flowing transition.
The Calanca design was honoured with a commendation at the 2015 Handwerk+Form competition. Jury comment: “The choice of high-quality materials and an accurate execution of the bed frame and mattress make a contribution to the theme of handcrafted living.”
